Changing Destination Depot

Redirect an order to a different destination depot before dispatching it. This is useful when goods need to be routed to a different depot than originally assigned at checkout — for example, when a depot is full, temporarily closed, or when operational routing differs from the automated assignment.

Prerequisites

  • You are logged in as a Source Depot Officer (or courier owner/manager) with write access
  • A destination country is selected from the drawer
  • The order is at at_courier_depot status and appears in the Ready to Ship tab
  • At least one other active destination depot exists for the courier in the target country

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to the Ready to Ship tab

Open the courier operations flow, select the Source Depot stage, and tap the Ready to Ship tab.

Step 2: Tap the destination depot label on the order card

Each order card shows the current destination depot with a warehouse icon and a small edit icon. Tap on the depot label to open the change dialog.

Tip

The destination depot label is shown in the metadata row of the card, alongside weight, item count, and delivery cost.

Step 3: Select the new destination depot

A bottom sheet appears showing:

  • The order reference number
  • All other active destination depots for this courier in the target country (the current depot is excluded from the list)

Tap the depot you want to redirect the order to.

Step 4: Confirm the change

The system updates the order's destination depot immediately. A success message confirms the change with the new depot name.

Result

After changing the destination depot:

  • The order's depot_address_id is updated to the new depot
  • An audit log entry is recorded with event type destination_depot_changed, including both old and new depot names and IDs
  • The order remains in the Ready to Ship tab and can still be selected for shipments as normal
  • When the shipment is dispatched and arrives at the destination country, the order will appear as incoming at the new destination depot (not the original one)
  • Destination depot officers at the new depot will see the order in their incoming queue once the shipment is in transit

Pricing is not affected

Changing the destination depot does not recalculate delivery pricing. The customer's invoice remains as originally charged at checkout. This is an operational routing decision only.

Pickup point orders

If the order was placed for a specific pickup point, that pickup point is linked to the original destination depot. Changing the depot does not automatically update the pickup point assignment. The destination depot officer at the new depot can assign the order to a local pickup point or batch when it arrives.

When to Use

Scenario Action
Depot is full or temporarily closed Redirect to the nearest alternative depot
Goods need consolidation at a hub depot Redirect all relevant orders to the hub
Customer requested a different collection point Redirect to the depot serving the new area
Door-to-door order, driver available at a different depot Redirect to the depot with driver capacity
Automated assignment picked a suboptimal depot Override with the operationally correct depot
