Retry Handover¶
This guide covers what to do when a Pickup Point Officer declines your batch handover. You will view the decline reason, address the issue if possible, and retry the handover to the same or a different Pickup Point Officer.
Prerequisites¶
- You are logged in as a Dispatcher
- You have previously confirmed arrival at the pickup point and initiated a handover
- The Pickup Point Officer has declined the handover (you received a decline notification)
- The batch
pickup_handover_statusis currently declined
Steps¶
Step 1: View the decline notification¶
When a Pickup Point Officer declines your handover, you receive a notification indicating the decline. Tap the notification or navigate to the batch detail screen to view the decline reason.
Step 2: Review the decline reason¶
On the batch detail screen, the handover status displays as Declined. The decline reason provided by the Pickup Point Officer is shown below the status. Common reasons include:
- Items do not match the batch manifest
- Damaged goods detected
- Incorrect pickup point location
- Officer not available at this time
Tip
Read the decline reason carefully. If the issue is something you can address (e.g. verifying item counts or correcting a misunderstanding), resolve it before retrying.
Step 3: Address the issue (if possible)¶
Based on the decline reason, take appropriate action:
| Decline Reason | Action |
|---|---|
| Items don't match manifest | Verify all items are present, check for mix-ups with other batches |
| Damaged goods | Document the damage, contact your Destination Depot Officer for guidance |
| Wrong pickup point | Confirm the correct location and travel there |
| Officer unavailable | Wait or coordinate a suitable time |
Warning
If you cannot resolve the issue (e.g. goods are damaged or missing), contact your Destination Depot Officer before retrying. They may need to reassign the batch or take other action.
Step 4: Retry the handover¶
Once the issue is addressed, tap the Retry Handover button on the batch detail screen. You can choose to:
- Same Pickup Point Officer — retry the handover to the officer who previously declined
- Different Pickup Point Officer — select a different officer at this location (if available)
Select the Pickup Point Officer and confirm the retry.
Step 5: Wait for acceptance¶
After retrying, the batch pickup_handover_status resets from declined to awaiting. The selected Pickup Point Officer receives a new handover notification and must accept or decline again.
Result¶
After completing these steps:
- The batch
pickup_handover_statusis reset to awaiting (from declined) - The selected Pickup Point Officer receives a new pickup_handover notification
- The previous decline reason is retained in the batch history for reference
- You are waiting for the Pickup Point Officer to accept or decline the new handover request
Troubleshooting¶
| Issue | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Retry Handover button not visible | The handover status is not in "declined" state | Ensure the officer has actually declined. Check the batch detail for current status. |
| No Pickup Point Officers available | No officers assigned to this pickup point location | Contact your Destination Depot Officer to assign an officer or reassign the batch to a different pickup point. |
| Officer declines again after retry | Underlying issue not resolved | Review the new decline reason. If the issue persists, contact your Destination Depot Officer for further instructions. |
| Notification not received by officer | Network or notification delivery issue | Verify the officer is online. Contact them directly if possible, or ask your Destination Depot Officer to assist. |
