Assigning Transporter

Assign a transporter to a shipment so it can begin its journey to the destination depot. Once assigned, the shipment's handover status changes to "awaiting" and the transporter receives a notification to accept or decline.

Prerequisites

• You are logged in as a Source Depot Officer
• The shipment is in pending status
• At least one approved transporter is available in the courier team

Steps

Step 1: Open the shipment

Navigate to your shipments list and select the pending shipment you want to assign.

Step 2: Tap "Assign Transporter"

On the shipment detail screen, tap the Assign Transporter button. This button is available when no transporter is currently assigned.

Step 3: Select a transporter

A list of available transporters from your courier team is displayed. Select the transporter you want to assign to this shipment.

Step 4: Confirm the assignment

Review the assignment details and tap Confirm to assign the selected transporter to the shipment.

Result

After confirming the assignment:

• The shipment's handover_status is set to awaiting
• A notification is sent to the assigned transporter informing them of the shipment assignment ("Shipment assigned to you")
• The shipment detail screen updates to show the assigned transporter and the awaiting status
• The transporter can now accept or decline the assignment from their end

Troubleshooting

Issue	Cause	Solution
"Assign Transporter" button not visible	No transporter can be assigned in the current state	Check that the shipment is in pending status with no existing assignment
No transporters listed	No approved transporters in the courier team	Contact your courier admin to add or approve transporter team members
Assignment fails with error	Network connectivity issue or server error	Check your internet connection and retry. If the problem persists, contact support
Transporter not receiving notification	Push notifications may be disabled on their device	Ask the transporter to check their notification settings in the app
