Transporting a Batch

This guide covers how to physically transport an accepted batch to the designated pickup point. After accepting a batch dispatch assignment, your next step is to collect the batch from the destination depot and deliver it to the pickup point address shown in the app.

Prerequisites

  • You are logged in as a Dispatcher (owner, manager, or member with a dispatch assignment)
  • You have accepted a batch dispatch assignment (see Accepting Dispatch)
  • The batch status is accepted and appears in your Active Batches view

Steps

Step 1: Open the accepted batch

Navigate to your Active Batches screen from the courier home screen. Tap the batch card to open the batch detail view. The batch card shows:

  • Batch reference (e.g. Batch #X7Y8Z9)
  • Order count — number of orders in the batch
  • Pickup point name — the destination where you will deliver
  • Status — "Accepted" indicating you are responsible for transport

Step 2: Review batch details and pickup point address

On the batch detail screen, review the full batch information:

  • Pickup point name — the name of the pickup location
  • Pickup point address — full street address for navigation
  • Orders list — all orders included in this batch with item summaries
  • Depot of origin — the destination depot where you collect the batch

Use this information to plan your route. The pickup point address is the location where you need to deliver the batch.

Tip

Tap the pickup point address to open it in your device's default maps application (Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze) for turn-by-turn navigation.

Step 3: Collect the batch from the depot

Physically collect all orders belonging to the batch from the destination depot. Verify the order count matches what is shown in the app. Ensure all packages are accounted for before leaving the depot.

Warning

Do not leave the depot until you have confirmed all orders in the batch are physically in your possession. Missing packages will cause issues at the pickup point handover.

Step 4: Transport to the pickup point

Travel to the pickup point address shown in the batch details. Use the navigation link from Step 2 if needed. During transport:

  • Keep all packages secure and protected
  • Monitor the app for any updates or messages related to the batch
  • If you encounter delays, you can view the batch details at any time by returning to your Active Batches screen

Step 5: Arrive at the pickup point

When you arrive at the pickup point location, verify you are at the correct address by comparing the physical location with the address shown in the app. Once confirmed, proceed to Confirming Arrival to initiate the handover to the Pickup Point Officer.

Result

After transporting the batch to the pickup point:

  • The batch remains in accepted status until you confirm arrival
  • All orders in the batch remain in at_country_depot status during transport
  • The batch is visible in your Active Batches view throughout the journey
  • You are ready to Confirm Arrival and initiate the handover to the Pickup Point Officer

Info

The batch status does not change during transport. The next status transition occurs when you confirm arrival at the pickup point and the Pickup Point Officer accepts the handover.

Troubleshooting

Issue Cause Solution
Cannot find the pickup point address Address is unclear or incorrect in the app Contact the Destination Depot Officer or your team manager for clarification. Do not deliver to an unconfirmed address.
Maps app does not open when tapping address Device does not have a maps app installed or the link is not supported Manually copy the address and paste it into your preferred navigation app.
Batch disappears from Active Batches The Destination Depot Officer cancelled the assignment Check your notifications for a cancellation message. Return the packages to the depot.
Packages damaged during transport Accident or handling issue Document the damage with photos. Contact the Destination Depot Officer immediately before proceeding with the handover.
Cannot reach the pickup point (road closure, etc.) Route obstruction Check for an alternative route using your maps app. If the pickup point is inaccessible, contact the Destination Depot Officer for instructions.
Order count mismatch after collection A package was missed at the depot Return to the depot to collect the missing package before continuing. Do not proceed with an incomplete batch.
