Driver Transfer

Hand over on-route orders to another driver using the PIN-based transfer process. A 6-digit PIN is generated that the receiving driver must enter within 30 minutes to accept the transfer. Use this when you cannot complete the delivery yourself but another driver can take over.

Prerequisites

  • You are logged in as a Driver
  • The order is currently on_route and assigned to you
  • Another approved driver is available to receive the order
  • You have not yet confirmed delivery or initiated a return-to-depot

Steps

Step 1: Open the on-route order

Navigate to your active deliveries list and select the on-route order you need to transfer to another driver.

Step 2: Tap "Transfer to Driver"

On the order detail screen, tap the Transfer to Driver button. This option is available only for orders that are currently on-route and assigned to you.

Step 3: Select the receiving driver

A list of available drivers from the courier team is displayed. Select the driver you want to transfer the order to.

Step 4: Generate the transfer PIN

After selecting the receiving driver, tap Generate PIN. The system generates a 6-digit PIN that is valid for 30 minutes. The PIN is displayed on your screen along with a countdown timer.

PIN Expiry

The PIN expires after 30 minutes. If the receiving driver does not enter the PIN within this window, you will need to generate a new PIN to retry the transfer.

Step 5: Share the PIN with the receiving driver

Communicate the 6-digit PIN to the receiving driver. You can share it verbally, via message, or any other secure means. The receiving driver also receives a notification alerting them that an order transfer is pending their acceptance.

Step 6: Receiving driver enters the PIN to accept

The receiving driver opens the transfer notification, navigates to the pending transfer screen, and enters the 6-digit PIN to accept the order. Once the correct PIN is entered, the transfer is complete.

Result

After the receiving driver successfully enters the PIN:

  • The order is reassigned to the receiving driver
  • The order remains in on_route status
  • You no longer have the order in your active deliveries list
  • The receiving driver now sees the order in their active deliveries
  • The receiving driver is responsible for completing the delivery confirmation
  • The transfer is recorded in the order's audit trail
